Monthly Archives: September 2017

The Sun is in Libra. What does that mean for your sign?

Libra wants to relate. As we leave the first half of the zodiac, which was focused on developing and strengthening our ego personality, now Libra calls our attention to our relationships to other egos. Unlike in earthy Taurus, where our inner Venus primarily valued what met our own material needs of survival and comfort, now in airy Libra, Venus values people. It was in Cancer that our watery emotional and mostly subliminal awareness of soul connections was aroused, causing us to now value the frequency of love. And if we were paying attention during the Virgo phase of practical analysis and critical feedback, we are now poised to apply relevant lessons to how we create and sustain relationships and discernment toward choosing our people. To have a fulfilling relationship, we must learn to relax our own ego and give more attention to the desires, perspectives, and fears of another, then apply that information to our decisions and actions in support of the other. In this way, we develop qualities of harmony, cooperation, fairness and balance. We become thoughtful of others, the consequences of our actions on them, and make different choices.

In our soul’s zodiac journey, Libra is the awakening of our longing to return to the wholeness of our existence as a spiritual soul, connected to all other beings in unconditional loving oneness. We bring that deeper longing to our attempts at creating personal love relationships in our lives.  Our mature Libra self will welcome the opportunities to blend our will with others by lending support, compromising, cooperating, and even sacrificing at appropriate times. Our less evolved Libra self might resist all that, fearing the loss of self will, or fearing aloneness, it might go overboard the other direction by sacrificing self too much, too often. In Libra’s quest to apply balance and fairness, relationship to self remains part of the equation.

Look below for your birth sign (sun sign) to see what particular challenges/ opportunities are being brought to your awareness this month. (These can also hold true if you have your Moon, Rising sign or a number of planets in the sign.)

Aries: Libra is opposite your sign, Aries. This polarity represents the challenge of integrating self and other. Your natural tendencies to look to yourself and go your own way are challenged this month. Use this an as opportunity to become more aware of how you might resist in relationship. If listening, cooperating and freely giving feel threatening to your sense of strength, see how you can support others’ strength so they become more worthy of partnership with you.

Taurus: Your experience of relationships can be colored by your need for loyalty and commitment. During this Libra month, tap into the principles of negotiation and cooperation to enhance your sense of stability and comfort. We don’t ever own someone, but we can own our feelings about them. Trust the laws of give and take.

Gemini: Libra and Gemini are both air signs, able to consider many sides of an issue, so, Gemini, during this month direct your natural gifts of curiosity and talk toward enhancing mutual understanding in your relationships. Polarized conflicts are typically not about lack of love, but how we interpret behaviors. If you’re feeling restless, go deeper.

Cancer: OK Cancer, here’s your chance to smother your loved ones with love and care. Just be sure you aren’t actually smothering them. If in doubt, ask. It’s amazing how talking about feelings with others can actually deepen bonds of affection in a positive way. During this Libra month is a good time to be aware of emotional security issues. We all want and need to be loved by others, but it starts within. We can’t expect others to do that for us.

Leo: Even if you are not the kind of Leo who commands the stage before an audience, you do love to be adored. Your one-on-one relationships may be your favorite audience, so this would be a good month to pay attention to that. Is there a balance? Use your natural qualities of enthusiasm and generosity to draw out the fun and romance in your significant other(s). What would feel supportive and loving to them? How are they special, like you.

Virgo: Relationships can often be a challenge for you because you are generally focused on making them better. That’s a good intention that generally goes unappreciated.  During this Libra month, it is good to remember that two people can both have the best of intentions and still see things differently. And yes, sometimes you can be right. But what do you want most? To feel right? Or to feel love? If you want to bring order to your relationship, start by prioritizing a few bottom lines and then be willing to negotiate the rest.

Libra: This is your month, Libra, so welcome all the possibilities that your close relationships may promise. Others will be more tuned in to the balance and fairness you always value. Exercise all the attributes you possess around creating, sustaining and growing intimate relationship, but be mindful that in your quest for peace and harmony, you may compromise too much, or fail to commit yourself. Be strong in yourself and see conflict as a natural doorway to intimacy.

Scorpio: For you, Scorpio, relationships are the necessary platform for the intensity you attract in life. So, this time of Libra is a good one to be aware of your relationship commitments. Are you committed merely to loyalty and longevity or is there a deeper commitment to personal growth and evolvement. The first allows you to stay fixed in the illusionary fear that your ego will not survive, and thus you will experience more drama and negative emotions. The second invites naked vulnerability and the promise of spiritual transcendence beyond the ego.

Sagittarius: During this Libra cycle, Sag, pay attention to how much sense of adventure, exploration and expanded perspective you are experiencing in your special relationships. Do you have a partner who is an equal and can enjoy the spaciousness of your inner and outer worlds.  You need freedom, Sag, but be careful you don’t drift too far over the horizon and lose touch with your special one(s). Sustained relationships require you return and share your adventurous stories. Better yet, travel with a partner.

Capricorn: Respect is bottom line for you, Capricorn, and this is even more true in your most personal relationships. During this Libra time, notice how much respect you are getting and giving. If you find yourself trying to control the other person, you may not be feeling respected. Or perhaps you don’t respect him or her. Better to talk about that than turn bossy. Also, this is a good time to welcome some recognition from your loved-ones for your achievements in life.  Share what you are proud of and invite others to do the same.

Aquarius: As the third air sign, Aquarius, this time of Libra invites thoughtful and stimulating connections with loved-ones. You have a need for freedom to be an individual in your relationships and this can make it difficult for you to commit to just one person. Now is a good time to do your best to communicate your unique needs and desires around relating. The right person will totally “get” you and value your need for independence. Your lover must be a friend first.

Pisces: Pisces, merging into relationship can feel as easy as breathing to you. Your natural empathy draws you into other people’s feelings, yet that is also a danger for you. During this Libra month, be aware of any tendencies toward being a “savior” in primary relationships. Set some boundaries. Can your special someone allow you to be remain sensitive without taking advantage? You need a spiritual partner, not a patient.

Unicorns 101

You’ve probably noticed that unicorns are all over the place these days – in stores and online they’re simply everywhere! No longer just an iconic image from the 80’s or a little girl’s favorite animal, unicorns have really made a comeback and are loved by all sorts of different people in today’s day and age.

Just like fairies, elves, gnomes, mermaids, dragons, and other magical creatures, you may wonder if unicorns ever really existed, or if they exist in some way now. That is something that each person must determine for themselves. Perhaps learning a little more about unicorns will help you decide.

Unicorns in Mythology

When fairies and other wee folk freely roamed the Earth, it is believed that unicorns did so as well. While they kept their presence more hidden, they would show themselves to anyone they deemed to be innocent or honorable. They were extremely psychic creatures, and they could feel what others were feeling, and convey their own feelings telepathically.

Unicorns never wandered out into open areas unless they absolutely had to. They always kept to wooded areas. Their horns were believed to have medicinal properties so unicorns were often hunted. This is most likely why they didn’t last past the days of fairy. It was said that when a unicorn’s horn was taken, the animal died. A unicorn could, however, choose to heal someone with his/her horn – and if the animal chose to do this of their own will, it would not die.

Unicorns have made many appearances in fairytales, movies, and storybooks, and in many of these depictions you’ve probably noticed some similarities. Often the unicorns are white horses and typically (not always) their horns have a spiral swirl design, right? Let’s examine the symbolism here. In many of the stories about unicorns, they will only show themselves to humans who are innocent or “pure of heart.” The color white represents childlike innocence and purity. Unicorns are also known for being extremely wise animals. The horn could very likely symbolize a sword. The suit of swords in the traditional tarot represent the intellect, the mind. Those who have studied unicorns believe that this symbolism is very important. I couldn’t agree more!

Unicorns as a Totem Animal

If you have a unicorn as your totem animal you can expect wonderful things! Unicorns bring wisdom, they can help you manifest your dreams into reality, and they can help you see the truth in all situations. They represent purity, magic, and uniqueness.

Working with Unicorns

If you want to work with Unicorn energy, spend time in wooded areas that are off the beaten path. Unicorns don’t like to be around too many people. Make sure the area is quiet and clean. Like the fairies, unicorns do not like litter or anything that tarnishes their natural environment. If you see garbage around, pick it up. Call upon the unicorns just like you would angels or fairies by inviting them to work with you. Regular and persistent interaction with them will eventually pay off.

Earth Star Chakra Aromatherapy Reading

The Chakras are an ideal roadmap for personal growth and development.  In 2017 we are journeying through the Chakras and focusing on one Chakra a month. September brings us to the Earth Star Chakra, the center of Planetary Consciousness and where we grounded our light body and soul to the Earth’s energy grid. This month, the Earth Star Chakra asks you to explore your connection to Mother Earth and Mother Ocean. Are you aware that Earth is a living entity? Do you respect the power of nature? Are you a protector of Earth and Nature?

Brief Overview of Chakras: The Chakras are the main energy centers in our subtle body. They are the openings for life energy to flow into and out of our aura or electromagnetic field. There are main Chakras, minor, subpersonal, and transpersonal Chakras. The Chakras’ function is to vitalize the physical body and to bring about the development of our self-consciousness. Each chakra is associated with certain physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual interactions. Each chakra has personal growth themes, functions, and purposes.  The concept of the Chakras has been around for thousands of years; but the energy coming to us from the cosmos is changing. We are receiving potent and new energies of high frequency light from the universe. The 7 main chakras were appropriate for us these past 2000 years. As we move into a new era, new chakras above and below the physical body are forming and others are waking up from dormancy to help us evolve into our new future.

The Earth Star Chakra is a subpersonal chakra and is located about 6 to 12 inches below your feet. Not in the physical body, but in the etheric body. In line with the spine. Usually seen as brown, magenta, or deep red in color. It forms a pyramid with minor chakras in soles of feet. This is the Chakra that connects you to the Planet, both land and ocean. And since more than half the planet is water, the Earth Star chakra has a large water component. This chakra brings us awareness of the Earth as a living entity. When fully functioning, this energy center will resonate with sacred energy spots; warn us of impending storms, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.; and open communication between us and the planet. The Root Chakra grounds the main chakras within the physical body. The Earth Star grounds the entire extended multidimensional energy system; it’s the Super Root. It’s your anchor into the earth plane — your grounding cord for your Light Body. It’s where you ground yourself to the Earth’s crystalline grid and ley lines.

September 2017 Earth Star Chakra Forecast: There is much turmoil going on right now with Earth’s elements, especially with Mother Ocean. It is hurricane season. Hurricanes Harvey and Irma just brutally hit the southern US and the Carribean islands. There is flooding in Asia with the monsoons. The fire element is also strong right now as there are wildfires out West in Montana and California. Many disrespect nature and her creations with litter, pollution, and destruction. She unleashes her power to demand our respect. As the center of Planetary Consciousness, the Earth Star Chakra asks you, how do you honor and respect the Earth? Are you part of the problem or the solution? Start making choices to take better care of the Earth, to be an Earth Protector. Respect the Earth and Nature. Do not pollute, destroy, and harm her. Help Mother Earth and give her and her creations aide in time of need. Be in harmony with all of those who walk upon the Earth. Have love and gratitude for the animals, birds, flowers, trees, plants, oceans, lakes, rivers, forests, hills, mountains, earth, water, fire, and air. Give offerings to the Earth.  Earth Offerings are gifts of food, drink, crystals, flowers, and herbs used to thank the elemental energies of Earth. Often these gifts are given to the Earth as part of meditation, prayer, celebrations, or ritual.  Open yourself to the power of the Earth, Sky, and Ocean. Doing so will strengthen your Earth Star and your connection to Mother Earth and her powerful energies.

Earth Star Chakra Elemental Aromatherapy Blend

  • 2 drops Vetiver essential oil (earth)
  • 2 drops Cinnamon essential oil (fire)
  • 4 drops Juniper essential oil (water)
  • 4 drops Eucalyptus essential oil (air)
  • 4 drops Frankincense essential oil (Great spirit)

The above blend is meant for a diffuser. Place the drops into the diffuser and as you turn on, deeply inhale the aroma and visualize you have roots growing out of the bottom of your feet, going deep down into the earth below you. As you do this, state the following affirmations: “I am grounded and connected to Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. I am a protector of Mother Earth and Mother Ocean.”
