Astrology for Self-Discovery & Personal Development

by Shelley Jordan

The symbols, myths, and metaphors of astrology have been gathered across the centuries from a variety of cultural sources. Based on an underlying philosophy that assumes some kind of interrelationship between the sky and the earth, astrological thinking has thrived during the past two thousand years across the globe. The Middle East, the Greco-Roman world, Asia, and medieval and Renaissance Europe have all nurtured astrological thought in its varying forms.

Astrology for Self Discovery and Personal Reflection

The Rebirth of Astrology

Marginalized as a consequence of the Scientific Revolution in the 17th century, astrology underwent a rebirth during the 20th century. Beginning with the theosophical movement, from whose hands it passed during the depth of the psychology heyday of the 1960s and 70s., astrology came to adopt the rhetoric of Jungian psychoanalytic theory. A recent flush of interest in Vedic astrology has added another facet to contemporary astrology’s richly complex and syncretic theory and practice. Appropriated by the New Age movement, astrology once again demonstrates its resilience and capacity to adapt to the cultural and historic moment.

Astrology for Self-Discovery

Astrology Bible by Judy Hall - Mimosa Books & Gifts

Introduce yourself to the planetary science of astrology for self-discovery.

When viewed as an esoteric philosophy for self-examination and introspection, astrology can be incorporated into personal spiritual practice. Its symbolism offers a catalyst for self-discovery and personal development. As a vehicle for contemplating the self by means of its archetypal images, astrology also has the ability to describe personal cycles and stages of life. The birth chart can provide a mirror for the soul and its purpose. The chart is a spiritual mandala that outlines the contours of the soul’s focus and its psychological predispositions.

If you remove prediction from astrology, taking away the assumption that fate, destiny, health, wealth or disaster can be determined from the birth chart, what remains is a representative model of the interior landscape of the psyche. This distillation process leaves a pure, symbolic and spiritual technology of the sacred that can stimulate introspection and self-awareness.

Using Your Astrology Chart as a Mirror to the Soul

Using the birth chart as a mirror of insight into the landscape of the soul can enable higher levels of self-awareness, improvement and spiritual maturation. The chart can aid in identifying and describing problem areas, and in this capacity can be said to be diagnostic. Those same challenges also contain the potential to become areas of strength, because all astrological archetypes contain a full range of healthy and unhealthy possibilities. By holding as goals the highest expressions of potential in the chart’s dominant archetypal images, astrology can become a prescription for spiritual evolution.

Astrological sign cards include crystal recommendations tailored to your sign, plus instructions for performing your own crystal affirmation!

Astrological archetypes are highly fluid and subjective in nature. One’s personal relationship with them can change over time. The more self-aware one becomes — as a result of inner exploration and a quest for self — the greater the possibility of finding inner peace and happiness. You have to know who you are to be happy, to know what will make you happy, in contrast to what another person might find satisfying. External mandates contribute to the hive mentality. Only knowledge of the true self, which is capable of growth and evolution, can align the personality and the soul. A temperate and thoughtful contemplation of the birth chart – astrology with a light touch – can awaken self-knowledge and awareness of larger spiritual and developmental cycles. In this way, harmony between the self and the cosmos is possible.

New Year, New Moon

by Payton Udo

The New Moon is known as a time of new beginnings and letting go. While some of us may wait until the New Year to make a change or start anew, the moon kindly reminds us each month that we are capable of starting fresh whenever we please. As a cycle comes to an end and a new one begins, it is important for us to continue to set new goals and intentions so we are able to keep growing and learning. May we correct our mistakes and learn by them, or learn something new and keep bettering ourselves, so we are steps closer to the person we desire to be.

While we may have pondered certain goals that we could make, and briefly told ourselves we are going to make a change, did we consciously set an intention to make that change? Are we making reachable goals that we can be proud of? Did we make room in our hearts to move on and grow?

Luckily, each new moon is an opportunity for use the energies of the universe to set and solidify intentions.Try spending this day with a New Moon meditation around your intention for the month. Capricorn: December 22 – January 21

As the third earth sign in the zodiac, Capricorn relates to practicality and purpose, but now not just for our self or those close to us, but for society.  Scorpio opens our heart to our soul. Sagittarius inspires us to find meaningful context for our soul. Now, naturally, in Capricorn, we want to apply our expanded, soulful beliefs to our purpose in the world. Through careers, philanthropic pursuits, businesses and other ambitions, we learn how to set goals, make plans, conspire with others, and manage time, people and resources. By bringing order to our vision, we ground inspired ideas into practical realities. This begins by taking charge of our own lives: accepting responsibility for our own emotions, applying discipline to our thoughts and actions, and holding ourselves and others accountable. Though we may feel driven to make our mark in our world and receive some level of recognition for our achievements, it is integrity that becomes most fundamental to our measure of success.  Are we living our lives in alignment with the beliefs and higher intuitive truths we’ve come to embrace and thus serving our soul’s intended potential for giving to this world.

If our ego is healthy and strong and has awakened to the awareness of our soul’s spiritual divinity, and we have attuned to a metaphysical wisdom, then we are more likely to hear and listen to that inner voice of divine guidance that gives intuitive and moral direction to our choices, helping us stay aligned to our soul’s plan. By doing so, we also align our self with the divine logic of a larger, higher, collective destiny, and in this way, the hidden forces of divinity can support the manifesting of our own unique higher potential, bringing us personal rewards while also furthering the collective evolution of our world.

If we have not yet awakened to spirit, then our Capricorn organizing energy is applied to more ego-driven goals and plans, still informed by the illusions of separation, death and fear and out of balance with the emotional needs of the opposing sign of Cancer. Personal wealth and power become the goals that promise more control, order and protection in our lives, even if it requires we become numb to the pain it causes in others and ourselves.  And to the extent we are still experiencing the unhealed wounds of our personality, our personal pain and shadows can fuel our worldly ambitions in ways that manifest much pain for others.

Through the many experiences we have in pursuing our worldly purpose and contributions, sooner or later, we learn to become attuned to the collective rhythms of souls merging into creative synergy and we re-discover the feelings of belonging that reflect our divine oneness. Welcome Aquarius.

Look below for your birth sign (sun sign) to see what particular challenges/opportunities are being brought to your awareness this month. (These can also hold true if you have your Moon, Rising sign or a number of planets in the sign.)

Aries: As with the rest of your life, Aries, when it comes to career and purpose, you need plenty of autonomy and freedom to go your own way. In your career, it’s best that you lead or are given your own track. Or perhaps be an entrepreneur. In any case, it’s your ability to assert your unique identity that informs your goals, your associates, your style and your success. During this time, you may feel a surge in ambition that can set your course for some time to come, so be sure to check your ego and ask your higher self for direction.

Taurus: As another earth sign, Taurus, your steady and practical approach is helpful to reaching goals that are grounded in reality. For this reason, colleagues and clients find you reliable and trustworthy. This is a good time to promote those qualities in yourself. At the same time, watch for signs that your vision and goals may be too conservative, too cautious. Is it possible to think bigger without falling off the edge?

Gemini: if your professional life lacks stimulation and activity, you will feel frustrated more during this month. Your desire to learn, share, and communicate need a purposeful outlet, so set some goals that will honor that. It may take more than one profession or maybe some extra philanthropic activities. Make sure your intellectual strengths are recognized, yet be discerning with it. Sometimes, wisdom equals silence.

Cancer: Cancer is opposite Capricorn, so your challenge during this time, Cancer, is to integrate your sense of responsibility and outward achievement with your sensitivity to emotions and nurturing of others. This is a good time to examine how well you balance your work and home lives. Do you know when to stop caring about your colleagues’ personal troubles? To get things done in the world we usually have to remain a bit aloof from emotions; ours and others’. You’re probably better off in a profession that incorporates your feelings.  Your soul kind of wants that.

Leo: This is a good time to shine your individual light into your profession. You have power, strength and leadership skills to bring to the table. Let your playful and creative urges inform the goals and plans you and your team choose. You can inspire others by being yourself, and by being in tune with your soul, you act as a catalyst for positive change in the world.

Virgo: Ok Virgo, this would be a good time to do a reality check around the goals and plans that you and others have set. Perhaps you’ve already seen some room for improvements. Now, more than ever, is the time to share and apply. Your critical and exacting style needs to be recognized and if you offer your insights with a soulful sensitivity, you will bring appreciated order to your ambitions.

Libra: Now is the time to notice if your professional environment and relationships feel balanced and in harmony. More importantly, is what you are doing creating more fairness and beauty in the world? Your social skills are important to what you bring to your worldly purpose, so make sure you are in a place to use them. This Capricorn month is a good time to draw attention to your own strengths and how it serves others.

Scorpio: You may feel an intense need for recognition in your work during this time, Scorpio. Others may notice your ability to dig deep, do the research, find the resources, and handle crisis situations. When you are connecting to your soul, you are a catalyst for transformation in the world. Be conscious during this month of how much drama you experience or create. Your own willingness to show vulnerability may allow others to be more authentic, enhancing their worldly purpose, too.

Sagittarius: During this month, Sag, you will be more sensitive to the limits of your work environment and mission. If you are not feeling plenty of room for adventure, travel or deep meaning in your work, now is the time to take note and make goals for changing that. If you are bored, ask for change. Freedom to wander, literally or figuratively, is key. Your natural enthusiasm contributes greatly to your success in life, but is contingent on your goals having deeper meaning to you. Help others remember the bigger picture, too.

Capricorn: This is your time, Capricorn. Seize the day. Set those goals. Make those plans. You are a manifestor and your soul is counting on you bringing order to all you touch. As you keep aligned with your soul’s intuitive guidance, you attract those who can serve your cause well. Be mindful that they are whole human beings, with feelings and needs of their own. However important the goal, the best plan of action is one that respects everyone, so include people’s feelings into the plan, at some level.

Aquarius: Changing the world is at the heart of your self-identity, Aquarius. You see so much that needs innovation and redesign. And you have original and ingenious insights to answers. Does your career path honor you this way? Now is a good time to ask these questions. Are you serving the right people that align with your values? Are you ready to create your own unconventional career path? More than most of us, you want to contribute to humanity, so make sure you are creating your life as you need.

Pisces: Engaging with the world at large with purpose and ambition is not your natural state, Pisces. Yet, your compassion for humanity draws you onto the world stage, nevertheless. If you can stay attuned to your deep soul wisdom, your heart will guide and protect you. If during this time you are aware of confusion, fantasy or a need to escape, look to the people who surround you. Make sure you have colleagues who are grounded, to whom you can delegate practical tasks, on whom you can rely for practical advice, and appreciate your sensitivity and need for tranquility.

The Sun is in Sagittarius. What does that mean for your sign?

Sagittarius: November 22 – December 21

Sagittarius is the third fire sign in the journey through the zodiac. Having come through the crucible of egoic fear and surrender in Scorpio, we now have some conscious awareness of ourselves as spiritual beings, as souls. This new, sense of identity fuels our desire to explore and understand our expanded reality in spirit and invites a subconsciously driven idealism and hopefulness that reflects our true divine nature. Through travel and exploration, we are drawn to discover new horizons and unfamiliar environments which stretch our knowledge of people and life.  In the opposite sign of Gemini, it was enough to exercise our Mercurial curiosity by simply taking in information and data within a rational, logical process of dualism. Now, Jupiter stirs our mind to search for context and meaning in ever larger paradigms through the study of philosophy, science, religion, and spirituality.

If we have come through this zodiac journey thus far with a healthy, positive ego and have awakened to our transcendent self, our spiritual searching will eventually lead us to metaphysical perceptions that see beyond the polarities and dualities of this illusive time-space dimension of physical form. Though human religions may play a role in our spiritual growth, we will sense their limits and be ever inviting of deeper and more expanded awareness, willing to trust our own unique soul connection (Christ Consciousness) to find truth that informs our own moral compass and leads, eventually, to mystical enlightenment.

However, if when the emotional and psychological traumas of Scorpio intimacy has indeed awakened some awareness of spiritual divinity in us, yet we nevertheless remain mostly within the limited perceptions of our ego, then our search for understanding in Sagittarius will be limited to these narrow perceptions.  We will be attracted to religious or scientific belief systems that re-enforce duality and polarization, often dogmatic and with rigid rules of morality. Such philosophies and religions support our newfound hope of divine connection, but also continue to fuel the ego’s misunderstandings and fears that stem from the illusions of separation in the physical world. Yet, even within these more narrow-minded experiences, our Jupiter self is seeking out that which will lead to eventual greater consciousness.

Whether we travel the world of Sagittarius in wide-open and loving trust of our inner guidance or with the self-imposed blinders of religious or scientific caution, we are preparing ourselves for the next sign in the zodiac, Capricorn, where we will step into society with a new sense of self, meaning, possibility and mission. Then, our Sagittarian paradigm will color what we accomplish.

Look below for your birth sign (sun sign) to see what particular challenges/opportunities are being brought to your awareness this month. (These can also hold true if you have your Moon, Rising sign or a number of planets in the sign.)

Aries: Fire meets fire here, Aries, so be aware at this time that your inspired enthusiasm and idealism is creating the adventures you need for your own growth and understanding. Books and “systems” may not suit you. Though you can be an inspirational leader, be ready to check any tendencies toward judgment and preaching. You are entitled to follow your own truth, and to go it alone if you must. Others may follow, but those who don’t are not your enemies. In your quest for truth, always ask “Who am I?”

Taurus: This is a good time of year for you check you priorities regarding material life and spiritual pursuits. It’s not that they are necessarily contradictory. Your natural tendencies toward material abundance and pleasurable comfort can be a fine avenue toward higher understanding if you are mindful to invite insights and wisdom around your human appetites. Once you set your mind toward higher consciousness, you can be steadfast, just avoid stubborn dogmatism. Some truths will change.

Gemini: Gemini is opposite Sagittarius in the zodiac. This is the time of year that most supports your integration of this polarity between rational thought and intuitive understanding. In fact, as a student of dualities, Gemini, this is a good time to apply your awareness of such to a search for meaning around them. Invite these insights through the books you read, the conversations you have, through writing, through travel and even academic studies. Your enthusiastic curiosity can also inspire others.

Cancer: With your sentimental attachments to home and family, the Sagittarian call to explore the world might feel threatening. Just as travel can put physical distance between you and loved ones, so can inner explorations of truth and meaning create mental and emotional distance from your past. You cannot force loved ones to follow you, but you needn’t stop loving them. Kindly share what you can, but make your home your sanctuary of truth. Your “spiritual” family will always feel welcome there and affirm the love that binds beyond bloodlines.

Leo: As a fellow fire sign, Leo, this month of Sagittarius affords you a chance to bring deeper meaning to your natural passionate flare and creativity. If you are an artist, invoke high ideals as your muse. If you like children, invite their wisdom to teach you. If you enjoy competition and play, seek to expand your experience of intuition and love. The truths that you are gaining during this time relate to the purpose of having a strong ego and who is served. Ego or soul?

Virgo: This month may feel a bit scattered, Virgo, as you alternate between leaping into daily chores with enthusiasm, and departing from routine as you chase adventure. It’s best to acknowledge your need for exploration that requires a break from your routines, and design a schedule of travel or spiritual studies that appeals to your need for order and practicality. Just don’t shoot for perfection, as it will stifle the spontaneity needed for expansive insights and awesome surprises. Remember, most deeper truths do not come through analysis, but through open-minded and open-hearted awareness.

Libra: If you consider your life as a journey toward spiritual consciousness, ask yourself, “Am I traveling alone?” Whether partnered or single, you may be feeling more sensitive to your longing for spiritual companionship and the enthusiasm and fun that comes with it. A compatible relationship between ego personalities is not the same as spiritual partners and at some point falls flat. If you are partnered, this is a good time to introduce mutual intentions for meaningful adventures through travel or studies. If necessary, claim the freedom to explore on your own. Without a life partner who can share the journey, conscious friends will serve the purpose.

Scorpio: When it comes to higher understanding, Scorpio, what is important for you is to relate it to the deep inner world of intimate emotions and psychology. Your “research” into meaning and truth is carried out within your own realms of sexual encounters, joint enterprises, shared resources and the like, where you can dig into the hidden undersides of power struggles, fears and intimacies. This strengthens your capacity to return more consistently to the surrender of your ego to your soul and grow a framework of cosmic awareness. Watch for judgmental and moralistic attitude as a key to the ego’s slipping backward into unconsciousness.

Sagittarius: This is your month, Sagittarius, so let yourself be free to follow your intuition and quest for expanded living. Whether it’s travel, study, philosophy, metaphysics, teaching or anything else that inspires you, you know it’s about learning about and understanding the world and the nature of reality. Now, more than ever, is a good time for you to question any over-reliance on limited logical thinking. Invite your soul’s guidance to strengthen your intuitive ways of knowing and your ability to channel wisdom to others.

Capricorn: As one who creates order and manifests achievements, Capricorn, this is a good time to consider just how much your “career” is reflecting your beliefs and adding to the meaning of your life. As you mature in spiritual consciousness, your sense of responsibility changes, aligning more with your soul’s perspective of divine order. This can lighten your ego’s sense of heavy personal burdens even as it can step up the challenges your ego is willing to accept in service to the world. Recognition comes without being sought after.

Aquarius: Your spiritual understanding comes most easily within friendships and groups of kindred spirits. If you’ve longed to travel or study with a group, this is the time. The synergy you create with others is a primary subject of higher understanding for you. Fellowship, so to speak, is the path you travel to ground spiritual wisdom into full bodied mysticism. Invite your intuitive guides to surprise you in fun and innovative ways during this time of Sagittarius.

Pisces: Pisces often experience states of confusion in this physical world because you are attuned, if only subliminally, more than most of us, to the larger reality of divine existence. The confusion is typically for lack of ability in your human mind to be able to make sense of your experiences. Thus, as Pisces meets Sagittarius, it is a good time to commit yourself to applying your rational mind to explore metaphysical principles which will give your mind useful frameworks for sorting out the confusions. You will be delighted each time you are reminded that others have travelled your watery path and have created language to share it. Your centered peace, confidence and gifts will grow.

The sun is in Scorpio. What does that mean for your sign?

Scorpio: October 22 – November 21

Scorpio is the sign of deep intimacy, with others and with our self. Our commitment to relationship in Libra invited this deepening of bonds that merge our self with others. Such merging can involve sex, money, beliefs, values, goals, or more, and creates a symbiotic dynamic with another person, as typically experienced in a marriage. Unlike in Aries, where our Martian willfulness was free to follow our own impulses, fending off the will of others, now in Scorpio, we are more sensitive to our desire to maintain loving connections to others, and therefore we are challenged to consider and incorporate their desires with our own.  The more we perceive our valued interests to be entwined with the other person, the higher the stakes seem and the more vulnerable we may feel. It is in this emotional and psychological vulnerability that Scorpio invites us to transcend and transform our ego.

When our desires align in harmony with a partner, we can easily feel the synergy of mutual love and trust that reflects the reality of our souls’ divine oneness with each other. However, when our desires conflict in opposition, we are faced with a primary choice.  If we limit our consciousness to our ego’s illusive perceptions of 3D separation, we are likely to revert to the Martian warrior stance of self-protection in Aries and experience the conflict as a win or lose battle with an enemy. This is the stuff of melodrama, power struggles, abuse, co-dependence, withdrawal and loss of love and trust.

However, if in this vulnerable conflict, we choose to stay consciously present to that field of love that keeps us attuned to our immortal soul, which is impervious to the illusive harms of this world, including death, we are then able to perceive our adversary as another similar soul, a divine extension of our greater self. From this higher perspective we are free to respond to the situation by revealing our ego’s fears, inviting a deeper, more intimate response from our self and others. We can invoke our intuitive and synergistic power to create solutions for us from beyond our ego’s illusion of separation. This is what the planet Pluto represents in us. This crucible of vulnerable intimacy, repeated throughout our lives, is what stretches us into spiritual consciousness, remembering that we are divine beings who are having a human experience. Sometimes we do stretch and then integrate this consciousness into our day to day lives. Sometimes we remain in fear and then retreat into limited ego perception, feeling wounded by love, fearful of vulnerability and we put on a mask of invincibility. Yet, despite our fear of intimacy, we cannot help but be drawn back to it. It’s what we came to do.

Look below for your birth sign (sun sign) to see what particular challenges/ opportunities are being brought to your awareness this month. (These can also hold true if you have your Moon, Rising sign or a number of planets in the sign.)

Aries: You are keen to take the initiative in joint projects and shared experiences, including sex. Be aware that this can be a way for you to maintain distance, protecting yourself from the feelings of vulnerability that threaten your ego and provoke unwanted battles. During this month, be aware of this and see if you can find opportunities to let down your guard, trust more, and let someone else take the lead. Revealing your fears and asserting your needs can help a partner address them with you.

Taurus: You bring the qualities of comfort, stability and pleasure to your intimate relationships, Taurus. As Scorpio and Taurus are opposite each other, look for ways that a partner can influence your values, your sense of security, and your self-esteem. Remember that adapting to other people’s desires and ideas does not require you to change what you most value about your self.  You’re building a life, not a fort.

Gemini: Your natural tendency to scatter your curious attention can at times also be a defense mechanism, protecting you from vulnerability and deeper intimacy.  During Scorpio, apply your love of learning to your self-awareness while with a close relation. Listening intimately requires your heart be involved. Find ways to share vulnerably with loved ones without letting conversations turn into mere intellectual exchanges. Be curious about the heart and how it can be attended to. Emotional intelligence is an important component of your education, but you must connect your head to your heart.

Cancer: You are at home in the gentle and emotionally supportive pond of water that your sign represents, but Scorpio is a deep river of water, appearing calm on the surface, yet raging and dangerous deep below. So Cancer, here’s a chance to bring your deepest feelings to the fore. If you have any sense of emotional insecurities remaining in my life, now would be a good time to find a trusted loved-one or guide to help you dig deep. Find out what’s missing, what you can heal, and what you can ask for from others. Remember that “I AM LOVE” could strengthen all your relationships.

Leo: You are enthusiastic and creative in joint projects and experiences, which can be delightful at times for your partner. At other times, it could feel a bit overwhelming and demanding. During Scorpio, find a way to share the limelight with a co-star. Intimacy is a dialogue, not a monologue. Vulnerability is stepping onto the stage without a script. You needn’t hold back on your passion, rather expand your source of inspiration to include your partner’s soul, too.

Virgo: This is a good time, Virgo, to bring your intention for clarity and perfection to how you handle your intimate relations. Asking a sexual partner for cleanliness is fine, but expecting emotions and feelings to be clean and orderly is not. Emotional intimacy can get messy, and sometimes everyone involved needs to get wet. So, rather than worry about cleaning up the mess, put your focus on how the mess was made. Just avoid getting too analytical. The heart has it’s own logic.

Libra: So Libra, if the Scorpio experience is the natural outcome of your desires for relationship, then this ought to be an easy-peasy part of the cycle, right? Well, yes, it is easy for you in one sense. You are more likely than most to stay committed in the face of conflict and adversity. At the same time, it can feel more painful for you because you have a low tolerance for disharmony. In a way, this sets you up, more than most, to succeed in the transformation of your ego. Staying committed to your “enemies”, for you, means making peace. Just make sure you aren’t capitulating to their ego. That peace will not sustain. Lasting peace will be created by conscious souls.

Scorpio: This is your month, Scorpio. It’s a good time for self-examination. With Scorpio as a dominant theme in your birth chart, there was obviously a soul intention in this lifetime to dive deeply into the themes that Scorpio presents. Start with this question: How much do I still hide my own feelings and fears behind a mask even as I am obsessed with what other people are hiding? Your answer may be an invitation to get real, reveal and let heal. Scary? Of course, but it’s also your fulfillment.

Sagittarius: Your passion for truth can be inspiring to others, including your intimate relations. During this Scorpio month, pay attention to the difference between general truth (like philosophy, religion, metaphysics, etc) and personal truth (eg, “My stomach is in a knot”, “I feel afraid of …”). Espousing beliefs does not typically invoke vulnerability or intimacy. In your desire to create closeness and trust, lean into the inarguable personal truth of the body and emotions. They will inevitably lead you back to a higher vista of cosmic awareness.

Capricorn: Your natural abilities to take responsibility and create order are probably highly valued in your relationships. Others can lean on you. However, during Scorpio, watch for a tendency to want to maintain control. Managing joint finances is one thing. Managing emotional or sexual intimacy is quite different and not recommended, unless requested. It avoids vulnerability. Try to loosen up and let go. What’s the worse that can happen? If things get out of hand a bit, you’ll probably be able to whip things in shape again.

Aquarius: You are typically prone to avoid intimacy, Aquarius. It’s your desire to remain objective and free from the emotional distractions that cloud your intuitive visions and idealism. Trouble is, without emotional intimacy, your inventiveness remains disconnected from humanity. Use this time in Scorpio to stretch your ability to be sensitive to feelings, your own and others. Explore some dimension of your own vulnerability and share it with a trusted partner. Try to be more sensitive to the feelings of your teammates. Tune into their souls.

Pisces: If Scorpio is about surrendering ego to soul, you have a head start. As the third water sign, Pisces represents an infinite wide ocean of divine oneness, without boundaries. Thus, when it comes to vulnerability and intimacy, you may need to pay attention to where the boundaries need to be. If someone is worthy of your trust, then surely let compassion and forgiveness rule the day, but let those feelings create the container and not cut short the necessary personal emotions that your ego must express. Denial of ego is not intimacy. Revelation and recognition of ego is.

The Sun is in Libra. What does that mean for your sign?

Libra wants to relate. As we leave the first half of the zodiac, which was focused on developing and strengthening our ego personality, now Libra calls our attention to our relationships to other egos. Unlike in earthy Taurus, where our inner Venus primarily valued what met our own material needs of survival and comfort, now in airy Libra, Venus values people. It was in Cancer that our watery emotional and mostly subliminal awareness of soul connections was aroused, causing us to now value the frequency of love. And if we were paying attention during the Virgo phase of practical analysis and critical feedback, we are now poised to apply relevant lessons to how we create and sustain relationships and discernment toward choosing our people. To have a fulfilling relationship, we must learn to relax our own ego and give more attention to the desires, perspectives, and fears of another, then apply that information to our decisions and actions in support of the other. In this way, we develop qualities of harmony, cooperation, fairness and balance. We become thoughtful of others, the consequences of our actions on them, and make different choices.

In our soul’s zodiac journey, Libra is the awakening of our longing to return to the wholeness of our existence as a spiritual soul, connected to all other beings in unconditional loving oneness. We bring that deeper longing to our attempts at creating personal love relationships in our lives.  Our mature Libra self will welcome the opportunities to blend our will with others by lending support, compromising, cooperating, and even sacrificing at appropriate times. Our less evolved Libra self might resist all that, fearing the loss of self will, or fearing aloneness, it might go overboard the other direction by sacrificing self too much, too often. In Libra’s quest to apply balance and fairness, relationship to self remains part of the equation.

Look below for your birth sign (sun sign) to see what particular challenges/ opportunities are being brought to your awareness this month. (These can also hold true if you have your Moon, Rising sign or a number of planets in the sign.)

Aries: Libra is opposite your sign, Aries. This polarity represents the challenge of integrating self and other. Your natural tendencies to look to yourself and go your own way are challenged this month. Use this an as opportunity to become more aware of how you might resist in relationship. If listening, cooperating and freely giving feel threatening to your sense of strength, see how you can support others’ strength so they become more worthy of partnership with you.

Taurus: Your experience of relationships can be colored by your need for loyalty and commitment. During this Libra month, tap into the principles of negotiation and cooperation to enhance your sense of stability and comfort. We don’t ever own someone, but we can own our feelings about them. Trust the laws of give and take.

Gemini: Libra and Gemini are both air signs, able to consider many sides of an issue, so, Gemini, during this month direct your natural gifts of curiosity and talk toward enhancing mutual understanding in your relationships. Polarized conflicts are typically not about lack of love, but how we interpret behaviors. If you’re feeling restless, go deeper.

Cancer: OK Cancer, here’s your chance to smother your loved ones with love and care. Just be sure you aren’t actually smothering them. If in doubt, ask. It’s amazing how talking about feelings with others can actually deepen bonds of affection in a positive way. During this Libra month is a good time to be aware of emotional security issues. We all want and need to be loved by others, but it starts within. We can’t expect others to do that for us.

Leo: Even if you are not the kind of Leo who commands the stage before an audience, you do love to be adored. Your one-on-one relationships may be your favorite audience, so this would be a good month to pay attention to that. Is there a balance? Use your natural qualities of enthusiasm and generosity to draw out the fun and romance in your significant other(s). What would feel supportive and loving to them? How are they special, like you.

Virgo: Relationships can often be a challenge for you because you are generally focused on making them better. That’s a good intention that generally goes unappreciated.  During this Libra month, it is good to remember that two people can both have the best of intentions and still see things differently. And yes, sometimes you can be right. But what do you want most? To feel right? Or to feel love? If you want to bring order to your relationship, start by prioritizing a few bottom lines and then be willing to negotiate the rest.

Libra: This is your month, Libra, so welcome all the possibilities that your close relationships may promise. Others will be more tuned in to the balance and fairness you always value. Exercise all the attributes you possess around creating, sustaining and growing intimate relationship, but be mindful that in your quest for peace and harmony, you may compromise too much, or fail to commit yourself. Be strong in yourself and see conflict as a natural doorway to intimacy.

Scorpio: For you, Scorpio, relationships are the necessary platform for the intensity you attract in life. So, this time of Libra is a good one to be aware of your relationship commitments. Are you committed merely to loyalty and longevity or is there a deeper commitment to personal growth and evolvement. The first allows you to stay fixed in the illusionary fear that your ego will not survive, and thus you will experience more drama and negative emotions. The second invites naked vulnerability and the promise of spiritual transcendence beyond the ego.

Sagittarius: During this Libra cycle, Sag, pay attention to how much sense of adventure, exploration and expanded perspective you are experiencing in your special relationships. Do you have a partner who is an equal and can enjoy the spaciousness of your inner and outer worlds.  You need freedom, Sag, but be careful you don’t drift too far over the horizon and lose touch with your special one(s). Sustained relationships require you return and share your adventurous stories. Better yet, travel with a partner.

Capricorn: Respect is bottom line for you, Capricorn, and this is even more true in your most personal relationships. During this Libra time, notice how much respect you are getting and giving. If you find yourself trying to control the other person, you may not be feeling respected. Or perhaps you don’t respect him or her. Better to talk about that than turn bossy. Also, this is a good time to welcome some recognition from your loved-ones for your achievements in life.  Share what you are proud of and invite others to do the same.

Aquarius: As the third air sign, Aquarius, this time of Libra invites thoughtful and stimulating connections with loved-ones. You have a need for freedom to be an individual in your relationships and this can make it difficult for you to commit to just one person. Now is a good time to do your best to communicate your unique needs and desires around relating. The right person will totally “get” you and value your need for independence. Your lover must be a friend first.

Pisces: Pisces, merging into relationship can feel as easy as breathing to you. Your natural empathy draws you into other people’s feelings, yet that is also a danger for you. During this Libra month, be aware of any tendencies toward being a “savior” in primary relationships. Set some boundaries. Can your special someone allow you to be remain sensitive without taking advantage? You need a spiritual partner, not a patient.

The sun is in Virgo. What does that mean for your sign?

August 21 – September 20

Virgo is an earth sign, ruled by Mercury. If last month, in fiery Leo, we were encouraged to bravely let our solar egos shine our unique soul light into the world, in Virgo we are asked to pause and consider the consequences of our inspired expressions. As the second earth sign in the zodiac, Virgo urges a grounded practicality to our life and an awareness to how we serve others. In Gemini, ruling Mercury aroused our intellectual curiosity about the world around us. Now, in Virgo, Mercury challenges our ability for mental focus and analysis, particularly as it relates to how effective we are as creators in this physical dimension. It’s by paying attention to the details, seeing the cause and effect, and understanding the logic of time and space that we grow into mastery as creators within it. Criticism and consequences are the feedback that helps us learn to express our unique soul genius more artfully, skillfully and completely.  A mature Virgo ego, ready for relationship, will welcome such feedback from others, discern what truth there is in it, and apply it wisely to improve one’s own life, relationships and to assist others.  A less evolved Virgo ego, still defensive, will hold judgment toward self and others, or become obsessed with details and analysis, missing the larger dimension of love that connects us all and gives context beyond logic and reason. One way or another, our Virgo self will lead us to what needs attention and we shall learn and evolve.

Look below for your birth sign (sun sign) to see what particular challenges/opportunities are being brought to your awareness this month. (These can also hold true if you have your Moon, Rising sign or a number of planets in the sign.)

Aries: Routine and order is not your comfort zone, Aries, but during this Virgo time of year, see if there aren’t some parts of your life that could use a little more practical direction. Enthusiasm and inspiration alone are typically not enough. Invite some feedback from others about your goals and methods. You can’t see everything from your own angle, so get some objective perspective. In the end, you get to decide what works for you.

Taurus: As another earth sign, Taurus, this Virgo energy increases your need for stability and practicality. Use this Virgo energy to scrutinize your values, the things you have accrued and the ways you got them. How has this served others as well as yourself? Are there ways your things and finances can be more ordered? Pay attention to the details of that which creates stability and security in life.  Hint: they aren’t all material.

Gemini: All right Gemini; time to focus that curiosity of yours. It may feel boring to limit your attention to less than three things at a time, but use this Virgo influence to look carefully at your priorities and make choices. Perhaps creating a schedule, a list or calendar would be helpful. Try to be precise and economical in your communications, and watch a tendency to correct other people’s speech.  Listen with discernment.

Cancer: The critical nature of Virgo can feel harsh for you, Cancer. Try not to take feedback from others too personally. And watch out that your emotional frustrations don’t turn into critical attacks on those you love. Are there ways that tidying your home or creating more order can bring comfort? Or perhaps you can offer your caring nature in service to someone who needs such help. It’s an excellent time to notice how emotions work. Be curious.

Leo: Leo, are you aware that when the novelty of daily work wears off, your enthusiasm wanes? That’s you resisting your own Virgo need for some routine and order to life. Use this time to notice how when you get your affairs in order and pay attention to feedback, there is more time and energy to play and create. Also, try applying yourself to some methodical games and pastimes. And problem solving can feel like a fun game right now. So use it for play and/or get things done.

Virgo: This is your time, Virgo, so go at it! Study, analyze, change a health habit. make lists, figure things out, improve, and invent. Bring order to the world, at least your world and if inspired, to others. Remember to embrace compassion and heart connections. Without that, your world can be harsh and cold. Others at this time are interested in feedback, so practice your skills of offering positive, loving and useful criticism. And be careful you go easy on yourself, too.

Libra: During this Virgo energy, Libra, your need for perfection or routine in your relationships may be heightened. So, watch a tendency to be cold or critical if people fall short of your expectations. Don’t confuse your way of doing things as the “right” way. Feel free to offer feedback and ask for what you want, but to maintain harmony and balance, let others do the same.

Scorpio: The watery, emotional world of Scorpio is not comfortable with Virgo practicality. Get over it. Get vulnerable, Scorpio, and give your attention to the workings of your relationships. Now is the time to create clarity about shared resources and intimate matters, knowing the exact details of any agreements, spoken or non-spoken. Perhaps there are health and hygiene habits involved that need addressing? Get it out in the open. Just be careful to not attack or accuse. Make it about your own needs and desires.

Sagittarius: Sagittarius, you are another one who dislikes routine and order.  Granted, you need plenty of space and time for adventure, but during this Virgo influence, allow some attention to the details of how you bring order to your thoughts and life. Invite some objective feedback. You may find that there are tools and systems that enhance the ease of your journey without limiting the choices and timing. In fact, some structure can boost the experience.  Also, this is a good time to invite critical thinking into your worldview. In your enthusiasm for meaning, have you compromised logic and reason?

Capricorn: Being the third earth sign in the zodiac, Capricorn, you may welcome the practical energy of Virgo, but beware: your already natural tendencies toward the well-organized, hard work of manifesting goals can go over the top and turn you into a bossy monster. It’s all right to apply your critical and exacting standards to life and work, just keep your heart connections alive so others (and you) know there is some tolerance and mercy. By doing so, you are more likely to succeed and get the recognition you deserve and desire.

Aquarius: Aquarius, friends and community are essential elements of your happiness. Use this Virgo time to pay attention to the details of how well your social circle fits your needs, and you, theirs. If there are dissonances, address them by making choices. Mere criticism is unlikely to change the dynamics. Your fulfillment depends your own wise discernment of people. With those who do seem a good fit, invite some feedback on how you can better care for and serve the relationships. This is where your natural objectivity can accelerate your effectiveness in the world.

Pisces: Being opposite Virgo in the zodiac, Pisces, during this time you will feel the polarity between your inner, sensitive and mystical world of feelings and your compulsion toward outward practical perfection. This can feel like fear of letting yourself go in case your imperfections are revealed. It would be best to just accept your Piscean tendencies for otherworldly sensitivity, yet invite the feedback from life and people that may challenge you to become more grounded. Unconditional love and compassion are great, but if you cannot find ways to deliver it in real deeds, to real people, in real time, you are missing the point of being human.

The sun is in Leo. What does that mean for your sign?

July 21 – August 21

Having visited the four elements of fire, earth, air and water (spirit, physical, mental and emotional) in the first four signs of the zodiac, we now repeat that cycle, ideally with a stronger and more secure ego, able to channel our soul’s uniqueness with passion and confidence.  The Sun is a perfect metaphor for our soul’s higher intention in Leo. We can shine, through our embodiment, the loving light that we are, radiating our love and warmth as passionate co-creators in this time-space dimension. Just how we express ourselves depends on the particulars of our human dynamics, as determined by our karmic patterns and reflected in our astrological birth chart.  A secure and enlightened ego can use this Leo energy in very powerful, joyful ways that inspire others to admire and support worthy creations. An insecure and un-awakened ego is more likely to use the Leo frequency as a way to gain personal attention, approval and importance, at times very intriguing or entertaining, but lacking the more soulful charisma that can lead others. No matter what our birth sign, it’s the Leo in us that claims our entitlement to be our true self, a unique and blessed child of the divine one.

Look below for your birth sign (sun sign) to see what particular challenges/opportunities are being brought to your awareness this month. (These can also hold true if you have your Moon, Rising sign or a number of planets in the sign.)

Aries: As a fellow fire sign, Aries, Leo invites your natural spontaneity to take action as applied to fun and creativity.  If you look at life as one grand, creative project, what is possible for you? Whether it’s playing a new game right here and now, or launching a big dream for the years to come, use this time to add the qualities of warmth and joy to your existing drive and enthusiasm. This will strengthen your power to attract others to your cause and invites others to express themselves, too.

Taurus: Your penchant for comfort and pleasure is a valuable trait, but watch out you don’t keep it all to yourself. In this Leo month, let your self share your gratitude with others. It doesn’t require you give all that much away. Mostly, the stretch is to be generous in spirit.  See if you can share something, tangible or intangible, in a creative way that expresses your warmth, joy and pride. Make it fun! Sing!

Gemini: Sharing your thoughts is normal for you, Gemini, but are you having fun? There is a trickster within you that wants to play in ways that express your quick-witted mind. Leo is a good time to come out and play. Use your natural enthusiasm for communication to improve your storyteller talents around the campfire. Make it up as you go. Others of all ages will be receptive. Adding fun to your communication skills will bring continuing rewards.

Cancer: Your usual tendencies toward shyness are being provoked this month. The Leo in you wants to turn your caring and sensitive qualities outward, allowing the warmth of your light to be seen and appreciated. Children are especially receptive to you at this time. Cooking, gentle games, and nature are excellent activities to share. Take a risk. Whatever feelings may be stirred, if you keep the focus on fun and playfulness, your talent for nurturing will invoke joy and creativity.

Leo: This is your month, Leo. There is no better time to let yourself shine. Others, too, will be feeling their own Leo inspirations for creativity and expression, so this is an excellent time for you to draw them into your own grand schemes, whether for this moment or for years to come. The key is to appeal to their inner magical children and honor their unique expressions as much as your own. Create a “mutual adoration society” and who knows what’s possible?

Virgo: Having fun and being playful is not generally your strong suit, Virgo, yet you, too, have a Leo inner child that needs attention and adoration. So, make your “Don’t Forget To…” lists, and then break free and channel your natural gifts for method and order into some creative pastimes and enthusiastic foolishness. When it comes to games, you can be the rule-keeper. Adventures? You can create the plan. Art? Find the tools. Explore how to give feedback and criticism in ways that feel playful and warm. If you’re going to make the world a better place, you’ll need to inspire others to join you.

Libra: In your commitment to relationship, Libra, sometimes you can forget the best parts, like fun and romance. So during Leo, let your creative juices flow toward your special someone. Art and music are natural avenues for you to create some playful harmony. Your enthusiasm, generosity and sense of fair play will reward you with returned adoration. Be sure to receive it. Drink it in.

Scorpio: Ok, Scorpio, you know how passionate you are. And you know how much you try to hide it. Well during Leo, passion wants to be expressed, so you might as well find a way to channel those deep feelings into something creative and inspired. Better yet, show a little vulnerability and you’ll be amazed how much people can adore you. Inviting an intimate loved-one into a mutual, juicy star burst is a natural way for you to share your joy. Just make sure your lucky choice is worthy.

Sagittarius: As another fire sign, Sag, Leo combines with your optimism and cosmic thinking to inspire big ideas and huge possibilities for fun and adventure. The world is your playground. Let your inner child express your natural enthusiasm to others. Invite someone along for the journey, for a change. Use your natural generosity to share your expanded insights in fun and playful ways that leave others feeling warm, enthused and uplifted. There’s a teacher in you needing a little show biz.

Capricorn: Time for some serious fun, Capricorn. Really. All work and no play can make you a very boring person, so let this Leo time be your reason to relax a little and look for some opportunities for your magical child to connect with others. Organized games and activities are probably your best bet. You could lead! At work, trust your unique personality and inspired creativity. Let yourself shine a bit more. Heartfelt enthusiasm will give you more strength and power to lead, as others feel your soul coming through.

Aquarius: Your normal way, Aquarius, is to either blend in with others as a team player or to be an outside rebel. Leo, opposite Aquarius, calls on you to take center stage more than usual. This is your time to lead, letting others follow your creative juices. If you offer inspired enthusiasm, other’s creativity will be ignited as well, and you will see how your expressed uniqueness synergizes with that of others. Be sure to return the applause, but don’t feign modesty. Like you, they’ll get their turn to lead. If you feel stuck in rebel mode, lighten up. Showing your fun side may attract your tribe.

Pisces: Your usual inward focus and sensitivity to the ephemeral can sometimes make it difficult to relate to the world. Use Leo to allow your artistic talents to develop and shine. If you channel your intuitive perceptions into creativity, the results will naturally connect you to others in uplifting ways, if you share it. Let yourself receive the attention and admiration. You needn’t feel your ego is out of control. Just acknowledge spirit as your partner.

The Sun is in Cancer. What does that mean for your sign?

Category: Current Transits

June 21 – July 20

At this point in the cycle of our journey through the zodiac, Cancer brings our attention to our emotional needs, as represented by the Moon in our birth chart. This is the first of the water signs, and just as the physical moon pulls on the earth’s oceans to create tidal forces, so our inner Moon tugs at the feeling frequencies created by our ego’s subliminal longing to return to the fullness of our soul’s field of unconditional love. Our earliest experiences of parental and family nurturing, or lack of it, determine deep subconscious patterns around our emotional needs and expressions. Positive and healthy family and nurturing relationships can provide a foundation that strengthens our capacity to give and receive love and care, thus attuning us to the higher frequencies of spiritual love, but ultimately it is not enough. Our many lifetimes of being human have destined all of us with repeating episodes of emotional, disappointment, pain and healing, and in the process have challenged us to return our awareness to our most reliable source of unconditional love…that of divine spirit through our souls.

Look below for your birth sign (sun sign) to see what particular challenges/opportunities are being brought to your awareness this month. (These can also hold true if you have your Moon, Rising sign or a number of planets in the sign.)

Aries: Your normal mode is to be independent and take action on your own. However, during this month of Cancer, you may notice your emotional needs for nurturing are more pronounced. Rather than feel this as a distraction, why not use this time to tend to what needs some care. This could involve you assertively asking for nurturing and/or offering it to others. If being alone is required, then bring your best intentions and skills to self-care.  This will strengthen your ability to stay on path through the rest of the year.

Taurus: Creating security is a big part of your ego’s perspective in this lifetime, Taurus. That’s why you are drawn to increasing your resources by making money and accumulating what you value. For you, more than most people, this feels good and is good. During this month of Cancer, do a reality check around your values as they pertain to your emotional life. Money, food and other material pleasures may not be meeting the totality of your security needs. Are you being nurtured and nurturing your loved ones? If not, you risk drifting into material greed and decadence. Share some of that abundance and pleasure with others.

Gemini: Gemini, you may notice during this month that you feel a stronger than usual draw to talking with family members, or at least thinking about them. Bring your natural curiosity and need for mental stimulation to an intention to learn more about emotional dynamics, your own, in others, and in relationship. The challenge here will be to relax your restless mind enough to also feel into the emotional frequencies that are present. If you can do this, your mind will be rewarded with rich insights and your heart with wisdom.

Cancer: This is your month, Cancer. Now, more than ever, it’s important you embrace the soft, vulnerable, and sensitive sides of your personality. At times, those parts of you can feel out of place, under-valued by the society, and even embarrassing. Use this time to increase your ego’s ability to claim the positive intentions of these attributes. The world needs more people who can reveal the value of feelings and offer emotional nurturing to others. And during Cancer, others are feeling it.

Leo: OK, Leo. Time to shine your bright, solar light onto your inner Moon, letting it reflect your softer qualities into the playful nurturing of those around you. Children (including “inner children), cooking, cooperative activities, family stories, and such can feel very fulfilling to you. To the extent you are feeling emotionally nurtured and secure in yourself, you can nurture others by modeling how to take center stage with joyful confidence and then encourage them to do the same.

Virgo: In this Cancer month, Virgo, the invitation for you is to direct your natural inclinations for service and order down into your heart and follow the feelings that will guide you toward nurturing others and your self in practical ways. For yourself, how do your habits and routines reflect on your emotional health? If needed, can you ask for help without judging yourself? For others, can you offer your practical services and logical outlook in ways that others feel nurtured and affirmed?

Libra: Your natural tendencies toward supporting others can easily channel this month’s Cancer warmth and caring into all your primary relationships, especially a partnership. Just be careful not to smother your loved-one. Others need to take some responsibility for their emotional health. By the same token, during this time you might feel more need to be nurtured by your relationship(s). Feel free to ask for that, but be ready to reach into your own inner resource of self-love to maintain balance.

Scorpio: Like Cancer, Scorpio is a water sign and resonates with the emotional, feeling frequencies. During this time, Scorpio, you might feel more protective of those things you share with a loved one, whether it be money, things, values, time or sexual intimacy. This is because you associate those with your own emotional security. If things get intense, the opportunity is to be aware of what you are feeling and share your concerns about your needs. Remember, change is your friend.

Sagittarius: Your usual flair for adventure, exploration and travel may be distracted by a need for home and family, creating some sentimentality. Consider including a familial love-one in your adventures, but be ready to slow down or yield direction. Likewise, your penchant for exploring philosophical and metaphysical beliefs might cause concern for creating unintended chasms with loved-ones. Maybe this is a good time to invite a deeper dialogue with open-minded loved ones. The trick is to not preach or be “right”, but rather lean into the bonds of love while acknowledging any differences in opinion.

Capricorn: Capricorn is opposite Cancer in the zodiac. Therefore, Capricorn, you may feel the polarized tugs inside yourself, one toward your worldly role in society and career and the other toward your family responsibilities. This is a time for leaning into the family and nurturing side. Beyond family, at work, pay attention to the emotional dynamics around your colleagues, your clients and yourself. You typically run roughshod over those, so use this time to offer some sensitivity.

Aquarius: Your ordinary emotional aloofness toward your network of friends and associates, may, during this Cancer month, slip into a more sentimental mode. In fact, more than usual, they could feel like your true family. If you realize this, take time to open your heart and offer moments of emotional connection and nurturing to those you value. It’s also important that you invite some of your social contacts and friends into your home, where your heart may be more accessible.

Pisces: As the third water sign, Pisces resonates with emotions and feelings from a collective perspective. Pisces, your heightened sensitivity to others’ feelings makes this month of Cancer especially challenging. This is a good time to apply discernment to the influence of your childhood family on your present emotional patterns so that you do not project them onto those around you who may be acting out familiar roles. At your best, you can bring true soul compassion to nurture those around you and yourself.

Note about zodiac dates: The dates associated with the signs of the zodiac are based on averages, since in any given year the exact ingresses can range from the 19th to the 22nd. The sun is in Gemini. What does that mean for your sign?

Posted on
Category: Current Transits

May 21 – June 20

Having established a stability of survival, comfort, security and values in the sign of Taurus, now, in Gemini, our soul prompts us to explore the world around us, taking in the plethora of information available to us through our senses. Our logical, rational mind, as represented by Mercury, exists to process all that data, making sense of it, seeing connections, forming ideas and testing our perceptions by communicating with those around us. In our journey toward spiritual consciousness in human form, Gemini is our ego’s first stretch outside itself to discover it’s way back to soul awareness. Making sense of this physical world and the relationships and dualities within it is an endless source of mental fascination and delight. However, until we balance this with a deeper intention toward wisdom, our Gemini curiosity can devolve into merely a shallow and hubristic extension of our ego’s limited awareness and ignorance of soul.

Look below for your birth sign (sun sign) to see what particular challenges/opportunities are being brought to your awareness this month. (These can also hold true if you have your Moon, Rising sign or a number of planets in the sign.)

Aries: Aries, this month you may feel an upsurge in your ability and desire to explore, initiate and communicate ideas. You just may have some brilliant inspirations, but pay attention to how fast you are talking, and if your mind is scattered. This is a clue to whether you will actually follow through with your enthusiasm. Pause to question, be curious and listen. Your mind may feel in a hurry, but your soul may want you to learn more before acting.

Taurus: Ideas and communications are not what you typically value most, Taurus, especially if they don’t promise some practical outcome. During Gemini, however, you may value your intellect and an ability to more quickly think and talk. If you apply your practicality to how you communicate, your usual concern about “easier said than done” will be alleviated. So let yourself brainstorm a bit with others. No one can force their ideas on you, so no need to be stubborn. New ideas are not your enemy. They are pathways back to your soul.

Gemini: This is your time of year, Gemini, so let your curiosity loose. Just try to apply some degree of focus so you don’t scatter your attention and energy too far wide and feel drained and confused. If you were listening to your body last month in Taurus, you should have some ideas about what priorities you have for learning, sharing, and/or teaching and with whom. So use this time to follow through by using your gifts of mental awareness and communication to make the appropriate connections and plans. Take actions so it all doesn’t just remain in your head. Your decisions will lead you to the growthful experiences that your soul wants for you.

Cancer: Cancer, though you are typically abundant with feelings and emotions, it’s not always easy for you to communicate them to others. Emotions are information from our soul that need translating for our egos to understand. During this Gemini month, you may find that you are more easily able to connect your feelings to thoughts and words. This can bring you more clarity within, and it empowers you to share your heart with others. Likewise, you can improve your ability to listen to others’ feelings and express your empathy and compassion in effective ways. Don’t take it personally.

Leo: The Gemini qualities of words and wit offer you, Leo, an opportunity to shine your talents through writing, speaking, and acting. Even if not applied to a formal artistic endeavor, give your voice permission to open up and be heard. Your soul’s intention in Leo is to teach you that you are a unique and blessed expression of the divine one. So, trust your heart and passion to bring through your voice a ray of love to the world. Expect feedback, and listen, but don’t let it stop you. Not all have ears to hear you.

Virgo: Virgo, your usual devotion to creating order through lists, routines and schedules may be challenged this month. The Gemini influence has your mind wandering with curiosity, so embrace it. Daily life may feel scattered with multiple tasks and projects, and this is not your comfort zone, but if you apply your talent for precision and clarity to how you communicate with others, you just might find some new and interesting possibilities to explore in your life. Listen to others for how your compassion can serve in a practical way.

Libra: If you are in a relationship, Libra, your partner better be ready for a more than usual amount of talking. Your need for communication with a significant other is high during this month. So find someone close. Your gift for seeing many sides of an issue will be supported by a higher degree of mental agility and communication skills to bring about balance and fairness. This could be a good time to resolve issues with any antagonists in your life. Your soul is longing for experiences of intimacy and that requires communication.

Scorpio: Scorpio, this month’s Gemini influence will heighten your curiosity about the secret, intimate and emotional aspects of life. It won’t be enough to just quietly observe those around you. You may feel an urge to probe their minds and uncover their feelings. When done from soulful consciousness, this can deepen intimacy for you and another, perhaps even improving your sexual life. Be careful not to let curiosity drift into manipulation. Words are powerful. Use them wisely.

Sagittarius: OK, Sag, now is the time to take those deep and meaningful understandings you have been gaining and give them your own words. Write, teach, speak. You have wisdom to share in ways that only your soul can do. You are here to inspire others. The key is being curious about how those cosmic concepts apply to the “here and now” reality around you. The insights you gained last month in Taurus should help. If nothing else, travel and learn a new language.

Capricorn: This is the time for you to communicate your vision and plans, Capricorn. You may feel drawn in too many directions, but if you focus on communications, you will lay the groundwork for action to come. People will recognize your intellect at this time. Be curious about who can help you and why. Your soul is directing your mind and your tongue to the people and opportunities for manifesting your dream. Stay flexible.

Aquarius: During this Gemini influence, Aquarius, your mind is flooded with many exciting and unpredictable ideas. That’s what you normally do, anyway, but now it’s especially important that you surround yourself with your tribe, your team, your kindred souls. Through collective brainstorming, you can trust your comrades to help sort out and prioritize all those unusual and intuitive ideas. There is divine method in this madness. Just keep it flowing.

Pisces: Pisces, your deeply sensitive nature typically causes you to stay a bit shy and withdrawn, unable to find words that capture the other-worldly awarenesses that flow through you. During this Gemini month, you may find better access to thoughts and language that allows you to share with others. Let Gemini help your mind discern the dimensions of your inner world, give definition to it, and express it into the world through writing, poetry, music, chanting, and the like. You bring the energy of wholeness (Pisces) to the mind’s illusive dualities (Gemini).

The sun is in Taurus. What does that mean for your sign?

Category: Current Transits

Each month, evolutionary astrologer Barry Kerr explains the sign for that month and then lists all 12 signs and how each interacts with this month’s sign. Look for your birth sign below. (These can also hold true if you have your Moon, ascendant and/or a number of planets in the sign.)

After re-committing last month in Aries to being in a human body, now, in Taurus, our soul deepens that commitment by grounding further into the physical world. Just as plants send out roots to collect the resources needed for survival and flourishing, so we humans create relationships to that which we need from the world to strengthen our existence, our comfort and our security. In Taurus, our inner Venus claims the right to take up space and to acquire what we need, want and desire. The tangible needs of food, shelter and money form our obvious and universal values. With experience and the evolution of our soul, our values become more individuated, less material, and more spiritual in scope. Yet, we must always ground those values into the practical world of time, space and form.

Aries (Mar 20 – Apr 20): In terms of values, Aries, for you it’s about freedom and independence. So, when it comes to making and spending money or going about getting what you want, you tend to be spontaneous, driven and sometimes impulsive. This month is a good time for you to slow down a notch before taking action and consider if your actions create more needed stability and structure in your life. Others may admire your inspired spontaneity, but they might also wish you were more practical and reliable. Let your body set the pace.

Taurus (Apr 20 – May 20): This is your glory time, Taurus. Give your desires permission to take root and blossom. Whether it’s digging your hands in the garden soil, immersing yourself in nature, pampering your body with sensual delights, or buying that special new thing, enjoy getting physical. Create comfort and pleasure. Just a caution, however: don’t get too attached to any of it, for the material world is always in flux. Grounding yourself in some less tangible, more eternal values may prove a more stable way to create comfort and security in the long run.

Gemini (May 20 – June 20): Gemini, you value intellect, clear thinking and social wit. When it comes to getting what you need and want, including money, you will have plenty of ideas. This Taurus month is a good time for you to get practical feedback about your ideas, particularly as they relate to what you value. Take some time to drop out of your head and into your body, asking it to talk to you. Believe it or not, this can bring a grounded clarity to your thoughts. Though your mind may be dizzy with all sorts of seeming contradictions, your body will hold a more reliable truth for you to trust.

Cancer (Jun 20 – Jul 20): For you Cancer, home and family are the important values. During this Taurus month, it’s a good time to build more structure and reliability into your home and family life, including more comfort and sensual pleasures. Home and family are where we create emotional security. Examine your values, Cancer, to see how they contribute to or distract from this. Consistency is key.

Leo (Jul 20 – Aug 20): Leo, your values center on creativity, fun and self-expression. So, this month it’s about bringing your body into the party. Dancing, singing and sports are especially inviting at this time, but also earthy arts like sculpture and pottery. If those feel too literal or daring for you, then consider anything that would enhance your ability to include your body and your basic values into the fullness of your expressive passion. You are worthy of being seen and adored, just as you are, just as you look.

Virgo (Aug 20 – Sep 20): You value attention to order and details, Virgo, so this is an excellent month to use the earthy, practical energy of both signs to get your financial ducks in a row and re-order whatever daily habits and routines affect your body, comfort and material security. You might also examine how your work aligns with your values. Drop out of your mind and into your body and ask if there are ways you can include more soulfulness into your daily service. Doing so will improve your health.

Libra (Sep 20 – Oct 20): Libra, you value cooperation, negotiation, and relationship, so during this influence of Taurus is a good time to measure whether your partner or any significant other is worthy of your loyalty and commitment. Stable and practical are important attributes to a successful relationship. An alignment to your overall values is vital, too. If that’s in place, then this is also an excellent time to enjoy the comfort and sensual pleasures your relationships offer.

Scorpio (Oct 20 – Nov 20): Taurus is your polar opposite, Scorpio, so this month may feel a bit contradictory for you. The Taurean tendencies toward self-containment and emotional stability are offering you a chance to check and balance your usual attractions to intensity, drama and codependency. With more self-worth, the drama can transform into fulfilling intimacy and spiritual growth. The key is to feel your own emotional security and bring that into your intimate encounters.

Sagittarius (Nov 20 – Dec 20): You value being able to see the big picture, so under this Taurus influence, Sag, bring that higher understanding to your values and do an inventory. How does your approach to making and spending money apply? How about the way you take care of your body, or not? Are there ways you can ground your philosophical wisdoms into practical use? If you are studying at this time, use this wave of Taurus steadfastness to persist and complete.

Capricorn (Dec 20 – Jan 20): Capricorn, you value achievement, leadership, and recognition. Let the Taurus energy ground your plans into practical, step-by-step actions. If your goals align with your true values, then patient and determined effort will be especially rewarding during this time. Also, let your earthy side show. People like leaders who can come down to earth.

Aquarius (Jan 20 – Feb 20): Aquarius, you value your individuality, originality and freedom. Though this normally works to your favor, the Taurus energy is challenging you to examine your connections to friends and organizations and see if there is a need for more dependability and loyalty on your part. Does your demand for freedom keep you too aloof? Are you being realistic? Or is it fear? Or could it be that the people you are connecting to just don’t align with your own values?

Pisces (Feb 20 – Mar 20): In valuing compassion and spiritual awareness, Pisces, you can, at times, get other worldly, and ungrounded. This time of Taurus is an excellent one for you to re-commit to your physical presence. Now would be a good time to start or renew a yoga practice. Any activities that connect you to your body and the physical world are helpful: clean up the garage, plant a garden, take up a sport. Your gift is to ground your expansive awareness and loving heart into the world with blessings. Start with yourself and let it flow outward.

The sun is in Aries. What does that mean for your sign?

Posted on
Category: Current Transits

Aries: March 21 – April 20

While the Sun is in the sign of Aries, the life force in plants, animals and humans is exalted. That which is dormant or seems dead, now re-awakens and begins a new cycle of growth. In human terms, this is when our souls re-commit to being human and to taking on the plethora of experiences that result from that commitment. The human ego is a necessary component of the human condition and is the vehicle through which our souls express. So, during the month of Aries, the energy is up for each of us to more strongly assert the individuality of our soul into the world by claiming our right to be in this world, to hold space, make decisions and take action.

Look below for your birth sign (sun sign) to see what particular challenges/opportunities are being brought to your awareness this month. (These can also hold true if you have your Moon, Rising sign or a number of planets in the sign.)

Aries: For you, Aries, the drive to assert your ego-self into the world comes naturally. Your inner Mars is already wide awake and ready for action, so in “your” month, the challenge for you is less about growing stronger and more about how you go about asserting your strength. You could easily overdo it during this time, letting assertion turn into aggression, forgetting to balance self with other, and running roughshod into battles. The key for you is to be conscious of this past year’s lessons of relationship in Libra and soulfulness in Pisces and integrate them into your ego’s service to your greater self.

Taurus: Taurus, the invitation for you during this month of Aries is to let your knowledge of who you are, your likes and dislikes, inform what you value in this world. Your Martian willfulness is here to help you get, make, build or attract what you value. By asserting your right to pursue your desires, you create abundance for yourself and those you love. Pay attention to where you short-change yourself due to low self esteem and feelings of unworthiness. Value yourself and your life, above all.

Gemini: Gemini, when you are feeling the Martian fires of Aries, your natural tendencies for mental activities are likely to burst out into a greater need for communication of some sort, typically talking. Your curiosity might become aggressive or demanding. Your ability to focus might be more fickle than usual. Here, the challenge is to remember that you are not your thoughts. Let your need to know and to share ideas align with your deeper soul awareness. You may discover truths in the world around you that help reconcile the dualities of your own identity.

Cancer: Cancer, now more than any other time of year, is a good time to practice self-love and self-nurturing. Be decisive and assertive about your emotional needs, but try not to expect others to take care of you. Remember, the divine Mother and Father are always present to love you. Your tendencies to want to nurture others may be stronger than usual this month. That’s fine as long as you are respecting their independence and not sacrificing your needs.

Leo: As a fellow fire sign, Leo, the Aries energy for you is a harmonic reminder of your entitlement to express your unique creativity. This month is a good time to feed the flames of your inspiration. Don’t wait for those in your kingdom to demand you take action. Call upon your soul to take leadership and then begin. And make sure you leave room for others to express themselves, too.

Virgo: The thing to watch out for this month, Virgo, is letting your Martian side ignite that tendency of yours to be exacting, critical and “right”.  You will do better by tolerating your ego’s desire to explore the possibilities of breaking free from your own stable routines and standards. In this way, you just might discover some interesting new dimensions to your life and, in the process, develop more tolerance for others who live outside your standards.

Libra: OK Libra, now is the time for you to attend more to yourself, instead of others, and address those imbalances that have been nagging you all year. Relationship only works well when both parties consciously assert their own needs and desires. It may feel awkward, but you really need to be decisive and speak up.  As long as you do so with respect, your show of strength will be appreciated, and if not, maybe it’s time to cut the cords.

Scorpio: Scorpio, this Aries month is a time for you to watch your ego closely and welcome the feedback of your loved one(s). If you still tend to hide your true self behind a mask of invulnerability, you are robbing yourself of the power you have to feel more alive and authentically connected to others. Take a risk in intimacy. Show your cards. You might be surprised just how wonderful it feels to be vulnerable and seen. Otherwise, this month, your ego may lash out with more intensity than usual.

Sagittarius: As a kindred fire sign, Sag, your natural tendencies for adventure and learning will be enhanced this month. Aries’ Martian influence on your Jupiter inspires an urgency and lust for freedom to explore life’s great landscape of experiences and lessons. You will need to make room for this, now or for later, but be careful to not exclude your loved ones from your visionary plans. You may be feeling all things are possible now, yet lack attention to the details. Perhaps you can appreciate and invite this from someone close to you.

Capricorn: Capricorn, though you are generally a cautious and careful planner, this may be a good time to let your inner Mars have some sway to take risks. If you have felt any promptings to take leadership at work or elsewhere, this is the time to do so. Or perhaps it’s time to cut loose and go solo. Drop down in your heart and ask for soul guidance. If the answer is “yes”, take command and go for it. Decisiveness now will allow the rest to unfold over the coming months.

Aquarius: Life for you as an Aquarian is always a balance between your need to belong to a team, a community of kindred souls and your need to show up as the unique, eccentric soul you are. The Aries influence on you this month tilts the balance toward the latter. If you’ve been questioning how well you fit with friends and groups, this is a good time to assert yourself and make changes. However, be careful you are not just feeling a need to be rebellious as an excuse to feel your ego’s strength. Those who “get” you, will be supportive. No need for combat.

Pisces: Since the theme of Pisces is the ultimate dissolution and surrendering of ego-self to soul-self, this Aries month intensifies your awareness of the contrast between the two. If you are still struggling to discern where others end and you begin, this is a good time to explore how to be stronger in your ego identity. If you are longing to be more consciously connected to your soul-self, this is a good time to pay attention to how your ego could be stronger and therefore more able to serve your soul’s higher intentions.

The sun is in Pisces. What does that mean for your sign?

Posted on
Category: Current Transits

The sun is in Pisces February 20 – March 20.

While the Sun is in the sign of Pisces, our ego subliminally longs to reunite with our soul’s connection to the divine love of all-that-is. Such mystical awareness has always been the main goal and challenge of human existence, so of course we are still easily confused by such longings. These inner intuitive promptings and sensitivities are typically misunderstood, resulting in illusions, delusions, fears, suffering and addictions. The spiritual path has always resulted in an inward turn, to discover our true source of being. We invoke devotional practices to increase the flow of our soul through our personality expression. While this attention to inner awareness increases the longing for wholeness and spiritual unity, it also challenges us to experience and discern the ways in which our ego continues to create the illusions of fracture and separation.

Look below for your birth sign (sun sign) to see what particular challenges/opportunities are being brought to your awareness this month. (These can also hold true if you have your Moon, Rising sign or a number of planets in the sign.)

Aries  (Mar 20 – Apr 20): The energy of Aries seems a direct contradiction to that of Pisces, since Aries is all about strengthening and asserting the individual human ego. Thus, the Aries experience with devotion to soul can feel somewhat disabling, prompting episodes of guilt, shame or fear of being weakened or lost. The key is to find your own way to practice, free of conformity, yet allowing you to express the compassion and acceptance that reflects your true, larger identity.

Taurus  (Apr 20 – May 20): Your need for stability and material security colors your approach to the inner, devotional life. A need for fixed values and solid outcomes can become dogmatic beliefs that block your willingness to step into the amorphous waters of inner exploration. Your easiest access is through your body and with nature. Yoga, gardening, creative craftsmanship and such can keep you grounded, yet allow your awareness to grow beyond the illusion of the physical and become comfortable with the unknown. Once you find what works for you, devotion comes naturally.

Gemini  (May 20 – Jun 20): Inner awareness requires stilling the mind. For a Gemini, this can sound like death. After all, what’s the point of sitting still and meditating if not to find out what’s in there, right? Certainly, asking questions and trying to understand is a part of your spiritual path, but at some point, you must let go of the need to feed your curiosity and process ideas and instead merely “be” with what is. If you can give your mind the understanding that it is not who you really are, you will transcend thought and allow profound intuitive “knowings” to soak in.

Cancer  (Jun 20 – Jul 20): Cancer and Pisces are both water signs, meaning their energies are very much that of emotions and feelings. For Cancer, the emphasis is on the personal emotions that demand the care and nurturing that builds emotional security for your ego. For Pisces, it’s more about the deeper feelings that emerge from your longing for the divine. The challenge is to discern the difference. If still struggling to build a strong emotional security as an individual, the influence of Pisces can be very confusing, causing you to feel other peoples’ pain as your own and directing your spiritual longings into martyrdom. The key is to hold compassion, but not rescue. Model self-nurturance.

Leo  (Jul 20 – Aug 20): Leo’s gift, when done well, is the ability to shine the light of the soul through the ego/personality in ways that cause others to feel the warmth of that divine light. To pull this off, you must allow the ego a lot of rope, which is precisely the challenge you face in the realm of inner spiritual devotion. Leos can find themselves in episodes of shame when they overextended the ego and lose soul consciousness, usually because they’ve attracted so much attention in the process. The devotional practice, Leo, is to exercise Piscean forgiveness and compassion for yourself, and use your expressive talents to model a healthy humility that encourages others to shine, too.

Virgo  (Aug 20 – Sep 20): Virgos, when motivated, can become the most devoted of spiritual mystics. Virgos like to know how it all works and then do it right. Creating new habits and routines, a powerful requirement for true spiritual growth, comes naturally to you. The trouble is that you can then get so caught up in the mechanics of devotion; you miss the spirit of it. Self-judgment and criticism of others can stand in the way of the very divine connectedness you desire to experience. Your challenge is to see that perfection is always present on a divine level. Once you get that, you become the model.

Libra  (Sep 20 – Oct 20): Libras are all about connecting to others, valuing close relationships. They can spend their lives mastering the art of serving others well and thereby balance out their own ego’s natural selfishness. This turn from self to other is a natural bend in the circle of spiritual growth we all travel. However, the ultimate completion of that circle in Pisces is about coming back to the self again, but now the higher self of the soul, which actually includes everyone else’s soul. So, Libra, the challenge for you for inner devotion is to not confuse the need for a strong human partnership with the need for a strong partnership with your own soul. Such soul awareness blesses any relationship a Libra may have.

Scorpio  (Oct 20 – Nov 20): As another water sign, Scorpio, your challenge in spiritual devotion is the fear of being exposed. With such sensitivities to the feelings of others around you, it can be a confusing mess inside. The Scorpio experience involves the unwinding of the ego and facing the monstrous illusions of darkness and horror that require a transcendent experience beyond the ego. Thus, facing your inner world, you will find many shadows and scary places, but you also tend to have strong desires to explore such realms, so it can work for you.

Sagittarius  (Nov 20 – Dec 20): The Sagittarius path of truth-seeking seems to naturally point you toward mystical fulfillment of Pisces, however, it isn’t quite that simple. Sag’s can get very stuck in the mental realms of spiritual beliefs, theologies and doctrines. This prevents them from entering the interior worlds of direct divine experience unless at some point you stop asking questions and taking dogmatic stances and instead understand that scriptures and teachings are there to point the way, not BE the way. Once learned, you can be a gifted teacher of devotional understanding.

Capricorn  (Dec 20 – Jan 20): Capricorns block to inner spiritual awareness is the need to achieve and be recognized. You are so accustomed to setting goals, making plans and then getting things done, that the nonlinear nature and non-predictable timing of spiritual growth can frustrate you. Also, you can find yourself striving to take leadership in spiritual circles when what you might truly need is to either follow or just “be”. You’ll do best when you have a disciplined and routine practice of devotions in which you can let go of all your worldly aspirations.

Aquarius  (Jan 20 – Feb 20): Aquarians are naturally drawn to environments and groups that exist outside the norms of society. This can give you a leg up on moving toward a spiritual lifestyle. However, your tendency to live in your head, not in your heart, can keep you aloof from the more heart-felt levels of connections that you need to incorporate into your wholeness. Though Aquarians might be drawn to spiritual groups easily enough, you might also feel rebellious and miss the opportunities to surrender to the group unity that reflects the wholeness of your own soul.  Finding the right group is key.

Pisces  (Feb 20 – Mar 20): One might assume that a Pisces person would be most likely to fulfill a spiritual mystic life, but there are many complications to the Pisces ego that do not necessarily align with the highest intentions of the Pisces calling. Though you are very sensitive to the feelings of those around you and to the deep longing within you for the divine, you can also feel crushed by the weight of that awareness. Addictions and escapisms can turn into years and decades of avoidance of the very feelings that are required to step into the conscious path of mystical awakening. You need to learn to stay grounded and present in your body and seek experienced help in discerning the confusing perceptions you experience inside.

The sun is in Aquarius. What does that mean for your sign?

Posted on
Category: Astrology

by Barry Kerr, evolutionary astrologer

Aquarius:  January 20 – February 20

While the Sun is in the sign of Aquarius, our egos become more sensitive to the human experiences of group energy. Friends, colleagues, comrades, and community draw our attention in ways that heighten our awareness of collective values, visions, goals and activities and how we fit into that. The desire to “belong” to a tribe of peers is universal. By aligning our personal energy with that of others, we can get a taste, here in the physical world, of the synergy and magic that reflects the spiritual oneness of all our souls in the divine dimension. Thus, our experiences with groups are opportunities for learning how to guide our soul-inspired egos toward soul-fulfilling expressions of divine love.

Look below for your birth sign (sun sign) to see what particular challenges/opportunities are being brought to your awareness this month. (These can also hold true if you have your Moon, Rising sign or a number of planets in the sign.)

Aries: As a natural leader, it’s important that you find a way to assert the strengths of your individuality and independence for the benefit of any groups you are in. It may be difficult for you to follow others, so consider leading, being the spokesperson or accepting independent assignments. Just be certain you have let yourself identify with the group’s cause or purpose so that you are not tempted to use the group for your own agenda.

Taurus: Your participation with groups can contribute an earthy, grounded stability and consistency to the team and build your own sense of self-worth. The problem can be that you become too attached to a particular idea or plan of action, your own or the group’s, and unable to muster the flexibility to adapt to the inevitable and unpredictable group process.  If you make sure the overall values and goals of the group align with your own, and don’t look to the group for validation of your individual self-worth, you will remain free to disagree, yet remain loyal.

Gemini: What could be more interesting for a Gemini than being in a group, right? But that rational and chatty curiosity can come across as cold and detached from feeling or empathic intuition, leading to unintended slights and alienation. Also, a too busy mind can create distractions from group focus. The key is to direct some of your curiosity to understanding the individual contributions of others, which creates energy of appreciation in you. This builds a love vibration that allows others to receive your objective and otherwise emotionally detached ideas.

Cancer: Your natural tendencies toward feelings, empathy and nurturing can make you a valued member of any group, especially when emotions are in play. Of course, this is only true if the group values and respects emotion. Otherwise, your greatest strengths become everyone’s frustration. So choose your groups wisely. Also, realize that groups are seldom organized around your own emotional needs. So don’t look for them to build your emotional security and self-worth. Rather, offer your own emotional strength to others in the group or to those whom the group may serve.

Leo: Your natural confidence in expressing your individual authenticity can inspire any team and could result in your leadership. However, if it’s about enhancing your own ego by appearing to be a cooperative team player, and receiving kudos for it, then it’s a disruptive suck. The challenge is to bring your magical child’s awareness to the magical child in your teammates, playfully inviting them to add their own unique gifts to yours and others in a dynamic synergy of creativity. This allows you to lead without leading and still honors your need to shine.

Virgo: Your dedication to being of service and getting things right can either keep a group focused, effective and moving forward or invoke judgment, fault-finding and splintering. The challenge is for you to soften your need for perfection and appreciate that not everyone holds your standards. By extending an empathetic appreciation for the feelings and unique contributions of each member and embracing the collective and expressed standards of the group, your critical observations are better received and valued.

Libra: Your tendency to highly value one-to-one connection can be a natural contribution to group harmony, but when aimed toward your own personal needs, can be disruptive and get in the way of your own need for connection. It’s best to use your relationship sensitivities toward helping everyone exercise a balanced, fair and egalitarian teamwork. Your warmth and objectivity in these matters will support everyone and keep the love flowing. Just keep the caretaking appropriate or you will lose yourself.

Scorpio: For you, it’s about power and transformation. You may fear committing to groups, even those with lofty goals, because your keen insights into hidden group dynamics can reveal that which is out of alignment with the group’s expressed ideals.  But rather than fearing to be a provocative threat to the group, your challenge is to trust your gift of perceptions by sharing it with others within the context of the group purpose and trusting that though you may get temporary push-back, after time to digest, the others will discern what is true in your information and allow it to cause transformation as needed.  The key is for you to not be attached to your own sense of power or need to manipulate, knowing you are merely part of a collective process.

Sagittarius: Your good intention to seek truth can come across as arrogant and judgmental, even if you stay silent, and thus disrupt the effectiveness of the group and your connection to those in it. Make sure you choose groups already aligned with your truth so you aren’t trying to change their purpose. Also, recognize and express appreciation for the wisdom others bring to the table, directing your own insights to building a collaborative sense of vision and truth. After all, that is how the “magic” of synergy furthers us all.

Capricorn: You bring managerial authority and organizational skills to your collective experiences. Any group that has goals needs someone like you to help manifest them. Where you can get stuck is by aligning yourself with people and groups that keep you in a safe zone of conformity to the status quo.  In truth, your leadership skills are best applied to group ideals that move society forward. By committing to a collective vision of universal progress, you act as a cautious reality check that helps keep a successful pace toward group goals.

Aquarius: Your Uranian impulses for authenticity, freedom and change make you both an inspiring catalyst for the potential synergy of group creativity and a rebellious detractor that can bring that synergy to a halt.  The challenge is to first choose groups that align with your ideals and then make sure there is room in the group for your original, inventive, intuitive and eccentric contributions to be valued and applied. Otherwise, you will feel a need for freedom and leave.

Pisces: Your subliminal feelings of connection to the wholeness of divine unity bring an inspired idealism to your collective experiences. This can be a problem if you expect any group of peers to live up to your high ideals, in which case you will either not find any suitable groups or be constantly disappointed and fuel disention, confusion and alienation. The challenge is to let go of expectations, feel the flow of love, allow yourself to share your visionary perspectives, and trust that this will plant seeds of inspiration for others to channel similar visions that build the collective vision to new heights beyond your own.

December Astrology Report

The Winter Solstice is on December 21.

At the winter solstice, when the Sun moves into Capricorn, astrologers look to the sky for insights into what this new year may portend. As we mark the beginning of the return of the light with longer daylight, this is the beginning of a new cycle of gestation, birth and growth, not only for nature, but also for the human spirit.

Baked into this year’s solstice chart there remains the waning, yet still powerful Uranus/Aries square to Pluto/Capricorn, an aspect that began over five years ago. Collectively, we’ve seen a struggle between the status quo of the plutocratic establishment and humanity’s need for authentic, revolutionary and systemic change that allows for individual human rights. This will persist for another four years.

Uranus went retrograde last July. As it goes direct at the end of this month, the confusion from the recent election results will begin to clear and a new wave of populist uprising will press for further changes.

Currently, Jupiter in Libra joins this dynamic by opposing Uranus and will continue to do so until next November. Jupiter’s drive for expanded understanding will at times inspire us to relate to others with hope and generosity, yet at other times our enthusiasm may spill over as impatience and provocative bluster. Jupiter’s square to Pluto indicates we will be challenged to renew our confidence and optimism in the face of continued blows to our hopes. Our strategy to sustain through these challenging times will be to bring our best to each and every relationship we have, being conscious to intend unity and oneness, even with perceived enemies we may have never met in person. Jupiter’s sextile with Saturn and trine to Venus, thankfully lend a balancing sensibility and social ease to our good intentions. In coming years, as the Uranus-Pluto aspect weakens, this personal approach to relationships will pay off, individually and collectively.

In this solstice chart, the Sun trines the North Node, indicating that all of us will feel drawn to step outside the comfort and safety of our home and family in order to lend our individual voice to the public forum. The Sun’s sextile to Mars will enhance our willingness to be assertive. However, with Mars conjoining Neptune in Pisces and both opposing the North Node, there is also a strong temptation to escape the awareness of the suffering around us by turning to addictions of entertainment, food, sports, etc. If we allow ourselves to remain aware of the pain around us, while applying our spiritual wisdom to self-care, we will more likely intuit the words and actions we need to stay engaged in the collective process around us in a way that does not diminish us or others. Creativity, artistic expression and spiritual maturity are needed here in ways that provide practical service to each other.

Another aspect for this yearly forecast is the Sun squaring the Moon. The Sun and Moon, among other things, represents the father and mother principles, or masculine and feminine principles. Collectively, humanity is coming to terms with the ways we have infused our societies institutions with our limited understanding of those principles and how the resulting shadow energies that have emerged.  If humanity were a “family”, this square aspect challenges us to question both “Dad” and “Mom” in how they may have contributed to or enabled abuse and neglect in our human “family”. Perhaps we are ready to resolve that polarity to a new level of consciousness and thus a new collective paradigm. There are planetary aspects on the horizon that point to great potential for breakthroughs in consciousness and better times ahead.
